Aladdin Dingly Scarf
The Aladdin Hotel and Casino once embodied an Arabian Nights theme. In the 1960s, a $750,000, 15-foot "Aladdin's Lamp" sign was erected. In the 1970s, a $250,000 porte-cochere was added to join the resort's arabesques towers. In the late 1990s, the casino was demolished to construct an even larger resort with luxurious Arabic vibes. The lamp was eventually donated to The Neon Museum and the resort became Planet Hollywood. While visiting the museum's Boneyard, Stanford photographed the 15' 3" vintage sign, full of broken neon and missing bulbs, and transformed it to this exquisite work of art, fully embodying the allure of days past while creating a modern treasure to be appreciated for years to come.
